Today (19/09/12) my religion class went to town to walk around to see some of the sites which Dublin has to offer. We all made our own way to town and met at Grafton Street at 9:30. After we had all made it, we first talked about the ‘Traitor’s Gate’, which is the gate in St. Stephen’s Green closet to Grafton street. It commemorates the officers and enlisted men, who were part of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, who fought and died in the South African War. |
The relics of Saint Valentine are held here.
We lit some candles, looked around the church and were on the move again.
Inside we saw a lot of paintings and old manuscripts and books. We also saw videos of certain scripts and paintings. I enjoyed this the most as we got to see a lot of old scripts, which were very intricate. We spent around 25 minutes in the library, looking at the pages of old documents, the Koran and the Bible and art works such as The Knight, Death and the Devil by Albrecht Durer.
